Matt Panic. I have known Matt for a long while. I think I met Matt through his twin brother Mark back in the day.
Anyways he has been drifting for 10 years now and 2006 through 2008 he was drifting competitively first for U.P. Garage and then for Drift office. After that he was drifting for fun only, 2010 was a year we all dream of getting back, PGP was still in full force where he drove a 20v corolla. PGP was everything drifting is supposed to be about, sorry if you never got a chance to go.
At the end of 2010 Matt bought the now famous celica and transplanted pretty much the entire corolla into it and for a year ran it with the 20v. But that just wasn’t enough radness. The car now sports a 3sge beams motor that we lovingly call “the beans”
I recently spent some time with Matt, Activity of the day? Playing the arcade version of Ghosts n’ Ghouls and let me tell you, that is the hardest game on the planet.
I probed his mind subliminally throughout the night for information but he said something towards the end of the night. I don’t think he was even talking to me at the time but what he said summed it all up.
“The thing that bothers me is I see people do it, just to say they do it. It seems like a lot of people’s motivation is popularity and not for fun. None of these kids grew up drifting back before you couldn’t go to the track to do it and I think this dream of making a career out of drifting has taken away from the spirit of it. ” -Matt Panic
Matt Panic personifies the spirit of drifting without all the “going pro” BS and I cant wait to have some of that baby blue paint on my door.
